Oh, look! It's still here! Hi, blog!

Hey there! How’s it going? Good? That’s great! I’ve been well, too. Has it really been 5 whole years since we last chatted? Heigh-ho.

Back in 2010, I started this blog as a fun project, and then promptly forgot about it! Oops. Well, I Googled myself to see if I was still out there on the interwebs. Sure enough, still here. Wow! I had a fun time with my brief foray into blogging. That being said, I didn’t realize the how much of a (very entertaining) time-sink it can be.  Thus my absence.

So, I’m back! Where to begin? When I started this blog, my main fixation was DC Universe Classics, which have come and gone. The line finished up a while ago with a lazy bang at Wave 20, as well as a few relatively pathetic releases on Matty. I still love them, but I’ve moved on to different obsessions these days.

When I was a kid, I collected all kinds of things: action figures, dolls, cards, video games, various psychological issues, etc. I never throw anything away. Well, that’s a lie. I throw away garbage. Most of the time. But I still have my old Pokemon cards from the 90s and bins of Barbie clothes from my youth. I recently began working in retail, which has reignited my interest in toys. Specifically, dolls. More specifically, Monster High and Ever After High. I remember when these came out a few years ago. I thought they were weird and ugly. Having spent time around them in the store, I’ve had a complete change of heart and I’m now obsessed with them. I feel like a drug addict. Actually, I feel like how I assume a drug addict feels.

I still collect all kinds of things, but my main focus at the time is on these doll lines. My fervor inspired me to revisit writing about toys on this blog, so I have returned. It’s just the way I left it. So, I do intend to actually resume posting  here. Probably. Knowing my tendency to get excited about (re)starting a project and then immediately dropping the idea, I’ve decided to stack the tired, metaphorical deck in my favor with this strategy: setting the bar low. How about at least 1 post a month? I can do that, right? Even if it’s just to babble about how I really need to get back to this?

Sure I can! I guess. So, if you like toys or just feel like reading my thoughts about this and that (mostly that), stay tuned for reviews about Monster High dolls, action figures, and more!

Questions? Comments? Epiphanies? Feel free to drop me a comment (which I’ll read), tweet (which I probably won’t actually read, sorry!), or email (which I’ll definitely read), if you are so inclined.

It’s good to be home.

Figuring It Out

Welcome to Action Figured Out!

An opinionated toy collector with some free time: blogger? Indeed. I've decided to start a blog to detail my toy life, ranging from new acquisitions to desires to blaming companies for their incompetence and more. That being said (or, well, typed), I'll introduce myself.

Online, I usually go by the user name Sekmet. And no, not as a tribute to the Egyptian warrior cat goddess. I've been a toy collector my whole life, with interests in all sorts of plastic products. I grew up with Barbie, Batman, and a bevy of other toys. Currently, Mattel's DC Universe Classics and Masters of the Universe Classics lines are my most prominent interests (perhaps against my better judgment).

I'm new to the blog scene (or whatever it is) and looking forward to oozing my jaded insight all over Action Figured Out.

Questions? Comments? Life struggles? Feel free to drop me a comment, or email me at sekmet@prodigy.net, if you are so inclined.

Enjoy AFO!
